The Design Line

Our design line presents a collection of furniture, decorative objects, and accessories that align with our holistic approach to sustainability and completes our offer.

Our vision

We aim to create an environment where our clients feel good in every sense: thermal and acoustic comfort, celebration of beauty, nature, and aesthetics to promote balance and well-being.

Embodying a global vision, World of Satinka creates unique, imaginative, comfortable, and elegant living spaces.

Sylvie Meyer

A word from the founder

“From the inception of World of Satinka, my vision was to create a design line that would enhance our sustainable spaces while staying true to our core values.

Our ultimate objective is to make a positive impact by fostering respect for people, the planet, and all forms of life. Here, our focus is on transforming ephemeral or seemingly obsolete items into lasting ones through recycling, upcycling, and repurposing.

Developing this design line allows us to forge new collaborations with designers and artists who resonate with our brand’s philosophy, embracing sustainability, adaptability, and well-being.

This initial collection, The Foundation, embodies the essence of WoS: products crafted by hand from locally sourced natural materials, designed for versatility, and merging beauty with a sense of well-being. It was created in collaboration with Christian Rühlmann, a talented German designer based in Portugal.

By naming this first collection “The Foundation”, I intended to establish the basis for WoS Design. This line is envisioned to evolve alongside our growth, future collaborations, and creative endeavors.”

Our commitments

Sustainability

We only use the best, most natural materials, chosen for their properties to preserve health and well-being, and originated in short circuits, in Portugal

resistant, waterproof, light, insulating, opening up a new world of possibilities in terms of design and decoration.

cotton for its robustness, softness, absorption and color reproduction qualities in dyeing; linen for its resistance, lightness, respiratory and thermoregulatory qualities, hypoallergenic properties and eco-responsible production; wool for its thermoregulating and hydroregulating properties, lightness and softness.

the creative reuse of sneaker soles, for example.

In particular, with the use of recycled materials or creatively reused, simultaneously optimising resources.

  • For example, stone, with the aim of giving natural stone chips a sustainable second life.
  • We source our supplies from quarries in Portugal, thus limiting transport and reducing the stock of cuttings in landfills.
  • We also recycle, using recycled materials, such as the soles of tennis shoes, to create coffee table tops, which perpetuates the life of a material originally intended for mass consumption.
  • Short circuit supply allows us to offer our customers full traceability of the origin of materials and production. That’s why we prioritize Portuguese raw materials and local know-how.
  • Our goal is to offer exceptional quality recycled material for all our creations.
  • We are committed to promoting local craft know-how. Manufacturing locally is part of Wos’ DNA, which is to preserve Portugal’s cultural and ancestral heritage.

Adaptability

At the heart of our creative thinking was the desire to offer our customers a range of choices, both in terms of use and finishing of our products, depending on your needs, desires and tastes.

Modulating your space according to your needs is possible: in addition to potential structural modularity, it is also possible through objects with multiple uses and functions.

Therefore, our products can have several lives: a side table that can be transformed into a shelf, a coffee table with different finishes, an occasional sofa bed, an ottoman that can be transformed into a sideboard thanks to its wooden accessory.

The combination of different functionalities with aesthetics seems essential to our desire for sustainability.

Well-Being

we favor a healthy environment without – or with very few – volatile organic compounds (VOCs).* By avoiding these toxic compounds, air quality is maximized.

* VOCs are carcinogenic or endocrine disrupting compounds that are generally found in glues, varnishes, lasures, wood pellets and paints.

with a color scheme close to nature, we promote a feeling of relaxation and physical and mental well-being at home.

We encourage a reconnection with nature thanks to blues, which represent the sky and the sea; to the yellows, ochers and browns, the earth; to the shades of green, the forest and the plants; and, finally, to the white and nude, more close to the stone.

These colors were chosen for their respective qualities: blue promotes relaxation and calms; yellow-orange, joy and peace; brown, sophistication; green, growth and health; white and nudes, serenity and openness of the heart.

Our colors help create an environment conducive to physical and mental well-being

through the choice of natural materials, such as wood, cork, leather, stone and natural textiles, we aim to reconnect interiors with nature through tactile contact that promotes calm and serenity.

The five senses (hearing, smell, taste, touch and vision) are positively stimulated by these materials and the colors associated with them.
